The real number of incidents and near-misses is likely considerably higher, but the Air Force and Army refuse to provide information for smaller accidents that did not require a public investigation. </span></div>

I'd start with: "How many women and children have you seen incinerated by a Hellfire missile?" And: "How many men have you seen crawl across a field, trying to make it to the nearest compound for help while bleeding out from severed legs?" Or even more pointedly: "How many soldiers have you seen die on the side of a road in <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/world/afghanistan" style="color: #007788; text-decoration: none;" title="More from the Guardian on Afghanistan">Afghanistan</a> because our ever-so-accurate UAVs [unmanned aerial vehicles] were unable to detect an IED [improvised explosive device] that awaited their convoy?"</span></div> <br />

I, on the other hand, have seen these awful sights first hand.</span></div><div style="background-color: white; line-height: 25px; margin-bottom: 22px;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img height="481" src="http://www.alternet.org/files/styles/story_image/public/story_images/drone_1.png" width="640" /></span></div><div style="background-color: white; line-height: 25px; margin-bottom: 22px;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I knew the names of some of the young soldiers I saw bleed to death on the side of a road. I watched dozens of military-aged males die in Afghanistan, in empty fields, along riversides, and some right outside the compound where their family was waiting for them to return home from the mosque.</span></div><div style="background-color: white; line-height: 25px; margin-bottom: 22px;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The US and British militaries <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/dec/18/in-defence-of-drones-keep-civilians-troops-safe" style="color: #007788; text-decoration: none;"> insist</a> that this is an expert program, but it's curious that they feel the need to deliver  <a href="http://www.voanews.com/content/resaercher-most-civilian-drone-deaths-from-faulty-information/1622442.html" style="color: #007788; text-decoration: none;">faulty information</a>, <a href="http://web.law.columbia.edu/human-rights-institute/counterterrorism/drone-strikes/counting-drone-strike-deaths" style="color: #007788; text-decoration: none;">few or no statistics about civilian deaths</a> and twisted technology reports on the capabilities of our UAVs. These specific incidents are not isolated, and the civilian casualty rate <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/31/civilian-drone-deaths-pakistan-report_n_4180293.html" style="color: #007788; text-decoration: none;"> has not changed</a>, despite what our defense representatives might like to tell us.</span></div><div style="background-color: white; line-height: 25px; margin-bottom: 22px;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">What the public needs to understand is that the video provided by a drone is not usually clear enough to detect someone carrying a weapon, even on a crystal-clear day with limited cloud and perfect light. This makes it incredibly difficult for the best analysts to identify if someone has weapons for sure. One example comes to mind: "The feed is so pixelated, what if it's a shovel, and not a weapon?" I felt this confusion constantly, as did my fellow UAV analysts. We always wonder if we killed the right people, if we endangered the wrong people, if we destroyed an innocent civilian's life all because of a bad image or angle.</span></div><div style="background-color: white; line-height: 25px; margin-bottom: 22px;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It's also important for the public to grasp that there are human beings operating and analysing intelligence these UAVs. I know because I was one of them, and nothing can prepare you for an almost daily routine of flying combat aerial surveillance missions over a war zone. UAV proponents claim that troops who do this kind of work are not affected by observing this combat because they are never directly in danger physically.</span></div> <br />

I know the feeling you experience when you see someone die. Horrifying barely covers it. And when you are exposed to it over and over again it becomes like a small video, embedded in your head, forever on repeat, causing psychological pain and suffering that many people will hopefully never experience. UAV troops are victim to not only the haunting memories of this work that they carry with them, but also the guilt of always being a little unsure of how accurate their confirmations of weapons or identification of hostile individuals were.</span></div><div style="background-color: white; line-height: 25px; margin-bottom: 22px;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Of course, we are trained to not experience these feelings, and we fight it, and become bitter. Some troops seek help in mental health clinics provided by the military, but we are limited on who we can talk to and where, because of the secrecy of our missions. In this way, we are no better than those we kill in the name of safety.</span></div><div style="border: 0px; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 0.7em; margin-top: 0.7em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The drone war began in Yemen in 2002. There have reportedly been 84 such strikes since that year. Yesterday, as a task force of 125 officers, some riding Snowcats in the rugged t<span class="text_exposed_show">errain, continued their search, it was revealed that Dorner has become the first human target for remotely-controlled airborne drones on US soil.<br />
A senior police source said: “The thermal imaging cameras the drones use may be our only hope of finding him. On the ground, it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack.”<br />
Asked directly if drones have already been deployed, Riverside Police Chief Sergio Diaz, who is jointly leading the task force, said: “We are using all the tools at our disposal.”<br />
The use of drones was later confirmed by Customs and Border Patrol spokesman Ralph DeSio, who revealed agents have been prepared for Dorner to make a dash for the Mexican border since his rampage began.<br />
He said: “This agency has been at the forefront of domestic use of drones by law enforcement. That’s all I can say at the moment.”<br />
It is certain that this is not the first time that drones were use by police, they are most likely used on a regular basis by police all around the country.<br />
However, this is defiantly the first time that drone has been actively deployed during a public manhunt, making Chris Dorner the first human drone target on US soil.<br />
It is interesting that murders occur every day in the city of Los Angeles, and the vast majority of them go completely ignored by the police, but of course in a situation where their organization is threatened, politically or otherwise, they are taking things very seriously.<br />
This situation reconfirms an important point made by philosopher and economist Murray Rothbard, in his “Anatomy of the State”:<br />
“We may test the hypothesis that the State is largely interested in protecting itself rather than its subjects by asking: Which category of crimes does the State pursue and punish most intensely — those against private citizens or those against itself?<br />
The gravest crimes in the State’s lexicon are almost invariably not invasions of private person or property, but dangers to its own contentment, for example, treason, desertion of a soldier to the enemy, failure to register for the draft, subversion and subversive conspiracy, assassination of rulers and such economic crimes against the State as counterfeiting its money or evasion of its income tax.<br />
Or compare the degree of zeal devoted to pursuing the man who assaults a policeman, with the attention that the State pays to the assault of an ordinary citizen.<br />
Yet, curiously, the State’s openly assigned priority to its own defense against the public strikes few people as inconsistent with its presumed raison d’etre.”<br />
The scale of the manhunt against him in comparison to the typical response from the LAPD is very revealing about the true intention and nature of government police in general, for those unable to see it easily.<br />
Christopher Dorner may or may not be guilty of the crimes that he is accused of, i personally feel at this point that he was framed because he spoke out against the corruption within the LAPD.<br />
Either way at this point is has become obvious that the LAPD would rather that Dorner be captured dead than alive.<br />

The permits would cost $25 each. Under Colorado law, that requires local officials to formally consider the proposal at a meeting next month, he said. Town officials would then have the option of adopting the ordinance or putting it on the ballot in an election this fall, he said.</div>
