While the national media continues to portray guns as death machines, Texas is actually expandingits gun laws.
A few months ago Governor Greg Abbott signed HB 910, or the Texas Open Carry Bill for Concealed Handgun Holders. This law allows for people who were formerly forced to conceal their weapon to have it holstered in plain sight.
And now new legislation comes as the nation watched in horror as 9 more poeple died in a liberal-created “Gun-Free Zone” in Oregon — which only make it safe for criminals and psychopaths to kill without challenge.
The “Campus Carry” bill — requires public universities in Texas to allow handguns in dorms, classrooms, and campus buildings. The measure received final approval from the Texas legislature over the weekend.
This comes at a time when Obama is trying to use campus massacres as a pretext to strip Americans of their Second Amendment rights.
Well Abbott would have none of it, and signed that bill into law — infuriating the White House…
Governor Abbott knows that our Founding Fathers understood the value of protecting yourself from tyranny. “We understand that the Constitution matters,” Abbott said, before signing the bill. “Every single word of it and every single component of the Bill of Rights.”
“Today is a day when Republicans and Democrats are united saying that we will live up to the promise of the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution — including the 2nd Amendment. The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
The governor even fired off a few rounds after signing one of the bills…
Said Abbott at the bill’s signing:
“President Washington said ‘that a free people should not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain independence from any who might attempt to abuse them.’”
“There is nothing more important in democracy than the voice of the people stepping up and saying, ‘We expect the Constitution of the United States of America to be our guiding doctrine,’” Abbott concluded.
