For the longest time, I loved drinking canned beverages. Alright, I’ll just say it: beer out of a can. Some of my favorites came in canned form and it was easy to crush them and set them aside for homeless neighbors to collect. But over time, I started to glean a much darker picture of the aluminum can. I’ve found that there are three major health impacts that are caused by most aluminum cans.
1. It damages male fertility.
French researchers have discovered that aluminum exposure may actually be harming sperm account. Examining the sperm of 62 donors, they found aluminum inside sperm cells and found that the more aluminum contained, the fewer sperm there were.
2. There exists a risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease.
Chris Exley, a PhD, of the UK’s Keele University, has been studying the Alzheimer’s-aluminum link for 3 decades now, and his life’s work has uncovered a terrifying theme: Chronic exposure to this pervasive metal needs to be taken seriously as a risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease. Since Alzheimer’s disease remains incurable, prevention is the only solution.
“The human brain is exposed to aluminum from the fetus to the grave,” says Exley, “While the proportion of this aluminum remains at a level which can be endured without significant biological effects, aluminum toxicity will not be manifested. However, at some point, which will be significantly influenced by individual circumstances, toxicity will be exerted, brain systems will be dysfunctional, and cascades of events eventually leading to accelerated cell and neuron loss will begin to dominate.”
3. It houses Bisphenol A, or BPA.
