World’s First Solar Bike Path Opens In Amsterdam

Solar panels that you can drive, park, and walk on. They melt snow and... cut greenhouse gases by 75-percent?!!!
As we have been reporting recently, solar energy is on pace to become the dominant form of energy on the planet. It has been predicted by many experts that this shift will be occurring in the next few years, as solar technology becomes cheaper and more available to the average person.
There have been many breakthroughs in solar harnessing technology recently, and a variety of creative devices are being installed all over the world. Just this week, it was reported that a bike trail in Amsterdam will soon be fitted with an operational solar roadway.

According to Wikipedia:
Solar Roadways Incorporated is a startup based company in Sandpoint, Idaho, that is developing solar powered road panels to form a smart highway. Their technology combines a transparent driving surface with underlying solar cells, electronics and sensors to act as a solar array with programmable capability.
The path will stretch 70-meters and will connect the towns of Krommenie and Wormerveer.

According to The Guardian, the solar roadway will be ready for public use on November 12th, 2014.
Solar roadways have been a dream for a long time, but are now finally starting to become a reality.
