FRANKENBULL: GIGANTIC GMO BULLS DEBUNKED - Belgian Blue Cows

Belgian Blue cattle are a beef breed from Belgium, known in French as Race de la Moyenne et Haute Belgique. Alternative names include Belgian Blue-White, Belgian White and Blue Pied, Belgian White Blue, Blue and Blue Belgian.

The sculpted, heavily muscled appearance is known as "double muscling", and is a trait shared by the Piedmontese breed. They are named for their typically blue-grey mottled hair colour, although it can vary from white to black.

The Belgian Blue has a natural mutation of the gene that codes for myostatin, a protein that counteracts muscle growth. The truncated myostatin is unable to function in this capacity, resulting in accelerated lean muscle growth, due primarily to hyperplasia rather than hypertrophy. The defect in the breed's myostatin gene is maintained through linebreeding. This mutation also interferes with fat deposition, resulting in very lean meat.

The neonatal calf is so large that Caesarean sections are routinely done. Double-muscled cows also can experience dystocia, even when bred to normal beef bulls or dairy bulls, because of narrowing of the birth canal.

The breed originated in central and upper Belgium in the nineteenth century, from crossing local cattle with Shorthorn cattle from the United Kingdom and probably with Charolais cattle. At first there were milking strains and beef strains of the breed. The modern beef breed was developed in the 1950s by Professor Hanset, working at an artificial insemination centre in Liege province.

Critics call Belgian blues "monster cows" and some countries' governments, including Denmark, have advocated eliminating the strain.

  2. Lets be honest your just a pleb from the public who doesnt know anything about farming while you live your life with a coshy 9-5 job theres some of us who have to work hard to feed the world which means unfortunitly you. Its blinded people like you who let our country down as you think that food just appears in the supermarkets for you to pick up. well you dont know just how much hard work goes into producing that food for the supermarkets. Whilst your all tucked up in bed at night were out calving cows, harvesting crops just for stupidly single minded people like you. If i could choose where the food i produce goes it wouldnt be to you townies as you dont appreciate anything that you take for granted. 'Animal cross breeding' dont make me laugh you obviously dont realise what the price of a pedigrre cow costs because telling by your uneducated statement your not on big money so you certin;ly wouldnt be able to pay for it as its already 8 pounds a kilo so if you want peddigree meat the be prepaired to pay at leat three times the price so next time you feel like commenting on so mething you dont have a clue about, just dont your a singlemined fucking idiot who doesnt have a clue about farming and how much time and money it costs to put the food on your ungrateful plates.

    1. Yes and our money we work 9-5 for helps you to live and continue to feed your families. I don't think you should be so condescending. I chose what I feed my children and spend my money in and it certainly will not be at the expense of these animals. Let me know where you work, so I can boycott because I wouldn't want you to sacrifice so much of your life to feed me and mine. Thanks so much.
